If there was a minus star choice- that would be my rating. Do not hire this company. We unfortunately hired them and things were broken, missing, very poor itemization. Run don’t walk away from them

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Owners first estimate of sales was way over what he ended up giving us. His itemization list was sub par with several expensive items missing.

A Royal Vienna two piece vase worth over $1,000 was not listed and when I asked him why it wasnt on the itemized list he said-oh that it didnt go for much.

He didnt list our oriental rug either and when asked- he said it was an oversight and gave us $350.00. He is a con man.

Maybe I’df the whole house didn’t smell like pot a better job could have been done. Between the mice and the filthy basement which pictures are already floating around the internet things might have been more organized. Looks like you need a hazmat suit to walk in that house after looking at the pictures.

Guest

The sale was run correctly,to me, looks like they went above and beyond. As they were not even charged for all the after market sales that were made by one of the woman who works for the company. Maybe they ought to focus on why their house smelled of drugs everywhere from the upstairs bedroom.

Guest

This man was paid in full the rug was added to the sale after tha fact and he was paid for that also. No such vase at auction 150 if you are lucky.

House was in appalling condition , mice everywhere and expected we were to clean up this mess . We have numerous pictures of home if anyone would like to see it.

The whole house smelled of pot so you can you all can realize where this review was coming from. We are not a maid service . Don’t know who was living in the boarded up room upstairs but they were smelling up the whole house.

Don’t know how people live like that . If anyone wants pictures we have them .

We spent over a week in that house setting up , and if you are gonna have people in the house don’t keep a person locked in a bedroom smoking pot all day. So many customers complained. These people ought to focus on their own problems instead of making things up.

Vendor is a criminal, dishonest and doesn’t deliver on commitments

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Same details exactly as previous review from Dec. 2024, except NEVER RECEIVED A PENNY!!!

Also, never provided an accounting of what was sold so some items not authorized might have been sold.

Dec. 2024:

In a nutshell, Chestnut Hill conducted a three-day sale for me and was supposed to send me 75% of the proceeds within 30 days along with an accounting of the sale. When nothing arrived in 30 days, I followed up and was told it would be arriving any day. This repeated itself for weeks, and then I received a check from a company called Rainmaker Estate Sales (which I had never heard of) for less than I expected, with absolutely no accounting as to how that amount was determined.

Since then, Alan Davidson has not responded to any of my multiple messages. In reading other reviews (which I wish I had read before hiring them), it appears this is a pattern - delay any payment, then send a disappointing amount without any accounting.

This needs to stop! User's recommendation: Stay Away

This owners son is a thief pulled everything from the sale and disappointed all the customers .

Guest

Walking through the house the owner lied and passed off real fake autographs as real . Should be suing this dishonest owner Brian what a scam artist he is .

Showing that they are selling Rolex watches and then the owner pulls the, from the sale . What a scammer to get the company to do the sale and then pull out all the real items such as bats, autographs, jewelry, everything scooped up by the owner right before the sale. Sorry for the people coming to the sale who expected a full house of items and when they get there nothing left because the owners steal their own items from the sale that they are contractually obligated to sell. Thats the scam………….lll.l.

Shame on.Brian stealing his parents items . What a son.

Agreeing to sell the items in the house and actually had to go get some items back because They changed their mind after the sale. What a scammer.

Guest

We have full pictures of the entire contents of house , if anyone cares to know the truth , we can email them. The house was 75% empty before we even started the sale. Was promised many items to sell that disappeared as relatives took out many items which happens often at sales.

Guest

This man was paid in full just because we were selling his junk, don’t blame me , he was given a discount , and still complained .

Bringing in outside fake bags to sell

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I've been to a couple of sales now where they've brought in fake designer bags from DHGate, new in packaging, and listed them for suspiciously low prices. The quality is very poor and they are obviously fake. It seems they have a history of this behavior and are engaging in fake comments here telling people the bags are real, using profanity, etc.

They only sold real bags at the sale with the original receipts . You must be mixing them up with another person who does estate sales.

Her name is Andrea and she owns a second hand shop on Pearl st in Newton Center.

The FBI raided her store and closed it down because she had stolen jewelry and fake purses in there. Stay away from her store , most are the items are fake in there.

The bags had store receipts in them.

The scam is your review, they have done sales for hundreds of people , all satisfied with the results. Sale for Celtics owner Wyc Groesbach, TV personality Susan Wornick, Red Sox pitcher John Tudor, Victoria Walgreen, a cop in Winchester, and all these mentioned are references .

Do your homework if you are gonna slander a company.

Many customers in law enforcement come to the sales. Do you need a list of.

I am currently in litigation with them and would love to hear details of your story and what delays he has in payments.

Estate sale fraud

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I never do reviews unless something is really good or horrendously bad. This estate sale company is a ladder.

I hired them because I was overwhelmed with how much stuff I had and was too overwhelmed to organize and sale it all by myself. All this company did was let people look through my attic and basement at my stuff and they would decide a price as they go. I couldve done that myself! To be fair, they did sort through the big stuff and put price tags on them, which was the best and only thing they did worthwhile.

If you were hoping to get paid for your stuff, forget it. If you are lucky to get paid at all, you will get shortchanged. In order to even get paid after a month and a half of Alan, making excuses, I had to threaten a lawsuit and tell him I was going to report him to estatesales.net, which is the Google of estate sales. If it werent for the very real threat of being unable to list on that website, I would have never been paid I dont think Im still waiting for my itemized sale list that he has promised me a month ago.

After researching, Ive realize hes done this to other people. I know, moving and cleaning out a house can be overwhelming, however, youll come out better if you do the sale yourself than hiring this company.

This customer was too busy focusing on her own biz , which is the oldest profession around , they do a booming biz on the North Shore so if you are a guy looking for a woman for the evening this is your person. Her friend and her have many clients all over Swampscott and Lynnfield. Maybe they should take heed of what they do and not make up lies about estate sale companies.

Read the contract you signed 30 biz days to get paid, same as auction houses, enough with these fake reviews. The company has completed over 900 sales. Let’s put reviews in there about how your family members come in and steal half the items that were supposed to be in the sale in the first place, and you were not charged any commission on those items which per contract is allowed,

Why arent there any reviews on Yelp? Interesting. Suspicious. Buyer beware!

I feel that is not right for other customer to , give a poor rating when there is no Merit, every person has their own opinion, but it does not seem right one bad customer can attack a business,to misrepresent as such without much meaning, I have been to 100 of their sales ,when I find the total opposite, when I go to their sales. I just don't see how one bad apple, seems to be attacking this company, They have such high end sales, it's very Enjoyable to spend the day out and find great items, from such high-end homes.

To the woman who tried to steal the bags from us by telling everyone they are fake, jokes on you Hermes real real real , just got confirmation from the young lady that bought it, she had it authenticated, amazing to me you can walk in a room and say 20 bags are fake in 5 minutes, guess you missed that class growing. As with any items of jewelry, autographs, and name brands we have 5 day return policy if any item is not real.

You're sadly mistaken. Is not me for the record. I've just been introduced to this cowardly page. That was my customer you twit.

You calling me out making up lies, was a grave mistake. I don't take kindly to slander. Weak depraved unloved people do what you're doing. Are you bitter that you didn't get to purchase a real Hermes for short money ????

Based on how you present yourself to the public. Your assessment of designer goods is you as a whole marginal at best. You have something to say to me have the courage and where with all to say it to my face.

I know who you are and what drive plate etc. I suggest you retract this post.

I was also at the sale and there are original store receipts for most of the bags!! I bought one of the bags - and it not only has the serial number and markings it has the store receipt.

I believe this person is irate that they didn’t get the bag they wanted as people bought immediately when the sale started.

They also told me I can get the bag verified if I wanted and then return it within a week if it wasn’t authentic. The estate sale company is selling the home owners goods and when this person makes slanderous claims they are taking away business from the home owner.

Sold clothing items for $10 a piece as "in good condition" when it was in fact stained..

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Contains 1 confidential file for company representatives

After over a 90 minute wait to get into the sale, I found it so packed with items it was impossible to even see what was there. Going into a small room with mostly clothing in it, I was told by an employee that the clothing would be in good condition.

There was literally no room to move, so I could not view the items properly and took the employee at her word. Each item I bought was $10 a piece. When I got home I looked at the clothes I had purchased and 3 out of the 5 were stained. I contacted the company, sending 3 emails over time and they chose not to respond.

Interestingly, prior to the sale, I had contacted them about an item I was interested in purchasing and they got back to me right away. If they had been courteous enough to reply to my very non confrontational emails, perhaps I wouldn't have written this review.

In my opinion, the company has highly inflated prices and really terrible customer service. They will take your money and run.
